The Crow with a Black Raincoat

July 4, 2006 | Filed Under Poetry

Got up to a morning and saw that Rain was playing on the TV and in the window panes. The rain disgruntles most people in Bombay. Dealing with bad roads, traffic jams and train delays will obviously not put them in a good mood. But if you block all this from the picture and just watch the rain falling and the natural beauty surrounding it, you will be mesmerized. Rain is like God’s screensaver.

Whenever I watch people seeing the rain, they appear melancholy to me. Even if their life is filled with happiness and even if they are enjoying seeing the rain, they just seem sad. Sad but at peace with themselves. A kind of sadness that is so rarely achieved.

Miss the rains … I really do …. miss trudging through 3 feet deep water ….. still remember my red squishy gum-boots from the 3rd grade ! man I loved those boots .. they did give the most aweful shoe bites though ….. ahhh the rains yes yes ! .. .brings the poet out in the lay-est ( if I may say so) of men .. so here goes
    “Frogs croak
    Prehistoric mating call ?
    I shall yoodle too”
Take it easy….. write when time permits …..

love the pictures .. i especially like the way you separated the rain from the “effects” of the rain .. it is so easy to easy to criticize and get focused on how something disrupts MY life rather than seeing it in a larger context .. without rain, no fresh water to drink!! without rain, there isn’t that beautiful fresh smell .. without rain, no plants will grow and life will cease to exist ..

miss the rains here.. i pray i remember to appreciate them in Florida, God willing!
