Let’s eradicate poverty

Once in the little country of Arrebaba,
A mad dictator came to power.
Citanul had the greatest of ideas for his country.
Although the manner in which he set to achieve them was unsettling.
He first decided to eradicate poverty.
The country was happy to find itself a noble dictator.
But then the number of poor people started diminishing.
Penniless people were amongst the first few to go.
They were found dead lying on streets one morning,
Though they were cremated or buried with full respect.
Panic spread across the nation,
As the people realized what was truly happening.
People dressed in the best of clothes,
So as to make sure that they didn’t look poor.
Out of compassion, the rich started giving some money to those who didn’t have any.
They were given shelter in the rooms that had long been empty.
Soon the streets didn’t have any beggars.
People started working harder to earn more money.
In fifteen days the population had reduced by 10 percent.
And poverty was almost eradicated.
An underground organization irate with the mass killing,
Devised a plan and assasinated Citanul.
In less than a day everything was back to normal.

Fear drives people to do anything…even to work hard!
