Vote for Mumboji Jumboji

Jumboji: So what’s your take on voting v/s not voting.
Mumboji: I don’t mean to preach but it’s foolish to not vote. If you don’t vote, you give up your democracy. You don’t care as to who comes to power and subsequently you relinquish your right to crib about the state of your surroundings. The right to crib is the best right to have. Most people can’t live without cribbing.
Jumboji: So how many people around you have voted today?
Mumboji: I work in an organization which has amongst the best educated youth in the country. Yet most of them are not registered voters. And a lot of those who are registered, didn’t vote today. These people are so involved in making money for themselves and for their country that they don’t really care who squanders their hard-earned money and how….
Jumboji: But aren’t all candidates who fight for power the same? Blood-suckers.
Mumboji: That’s a perception. It could be true but I would like to believe it isn’t true. There are people who might be good. And particularly for such people one can’t relinquish their vote.
Jumboji: But my vote is just one amongst thousands….
Mumboji: Your vote is not a minuscule entity. It is power. In a democracy the beauty is that the power is equally distributed to people in the form of a vote. You can’t do too much with this power but it is necessary to use it, lest someone else uses your power. We mustn’t waste that power we have.
Jumboji: Mebbe you are right.
Mumboji: I am right.

Fabuuuulooouss…I can’t do it though…unfortunately! They shut shop at 5.30 pm and if they had been open till 7.30 like u said I would have fucking well gone! Sucks that work comes in the way of voting but on the other hand, if I was really serious I would have gone there first thing and done my bit..:(
mumboji agrees…
Point Taken!
You Are Right!
Yes I voted, but as per this law..
There is a system in our constitution, as per the
1969 act, in section “49-O” that a person can go to the polling booth,
confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding
election officer that he doesnt want to vote anyone! yes such a feature
is available, but obviously these seemingly notoroius leaders have never
disclosed it. this is called 49-O…
why should you go and say “i vote nobody”… because, in a ward, if a
candidate wins, say by xxx votes, and that particular ward has received
49-O votes more than xxx, then that polling will be cancelled and will
have to be re-polled. Not only that , but the candidature of the
contestants will be removed and he cannot contest the re-polling, since
people had already expresed their decision on him. This would bring fear
into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for
election. This would change the way, of our whole political system…
it is seemingly surprising why, election commission has not revealed
such a feature to the public….
please spread this news to as many as you know…
Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in india…
show your power,
expreseing your desire not to vote anybody, is even more
powerful than voting… so dont miss your chance.. so either vote, or
vote not to vote (vote 49-O)
Thank you Chanda. Casting an invalid vote is always an option and thanks for explaining in detail how…
Man this is exactly what i think.
I cant vote as i am not listed here but if there is a social security kind of number thru which we can sent our votes then it wud be great.
I hate to say it, but I am still not registered on the voting list
The worst aspect of not voting is that politians target only people who will vote.
…while making policies.
i wish they allowed people to mail in votes .. or vote via the internet .. i voted every time once i was eligible while i could ..
One more lesson learnt. Will always rememger it.
and will follow it too. lol.
