Good bye and thanks for all the fish

Dear President APJ Abdul Kalam,
This is an open thank you letter for you.
At first when you were elected the president of India, I wasn’t very happy. You were a part of the nuclear testing team at Pokhran. I am completely against nuclear testing and didn’t want India to be a nuclear power. And then projecting a person who was a big part of the project as India’s first person, seemed like a violent statement to me.
But I must say you wowed me in many ways. And these 5 years that you have been there, I think India has done great as a country. They were good times.
I thought about writing you this letter when I read one of my old blog posts about you pardoning a death sentence. I talked about how you had faith in the system. If everyone has faith in the system, the system will run smoothly. These thoughts are ideological but I am sure in 100 years, they may seem normal, the key being to start now. I thank you for beginning the process.
My respect for you has also increased after you refused to be a part of the drama ‘Who will be our next president’. I thought it was extremely silly and annoying. You refused to be a pawn in their game.
I wish you well for the future and hope you continue to contribute to the well being of the nation. You will be sorely missed.
Warm regards,
Sheece
Waiting for the school bus

There’s something about this pic I like very much. A father waiting with his daughter for her schol bus to arrive. A moment of separation for the two is not very far away. This photo in so many ways captures the essence of a modern father-daughter relationship. The father, a man who will give his daughter the best education, guide her till she is on her way (fearing for her but yet encouraging to discover the world on her own). The daughter, who patiently waits with her father, before she steps out in to the world outside (probably filled with apprehension and excitement at the same time).
The school bus that will arrive soon is full of friends and foes, a small prototype of the grown-up world.
On my way to work today

I got into a rickshaw without realizing that I would be stuck in a traffic jam soon after. While my rick had stopped for a while, this dog came and stood around asking to be photographed. I instantly removed my K790i and took a pic.
The pic gave me an idea and stirred the journalist inside me. I thought that I should take pics about my journey to work and blog about it in. So here’s a pictorial view of my daily travel to work. (Most of these pics are taken from a traveling rickshaw and would not be the sharpest. Also I am not a very good photographer so please don’t mind them.) Read more
