Waiting for the school bus
July 4, 2007 | Filed Under Point of View
There’s something about this pic I like very much. A father waiting with his daughter for her schol bus to arrive. A moment of separation for the two is not very far away. This photo in so many ways captures the essence of a modern father-daughter relationship. The father, a man who will give his daughter the best education, guide her till she is on her way (fearing for her but yet encouraging to discover the world on her own). The daughter, who patiently waits with her father, before she steps out in to the world outside (probably filled with apprehension and excitement at the same time).
The school bus that will arrive soon is full of friends and foes, a small prototype of the grown-up world.

and before you know it the daughter grows adult and does things you cannot protect her from. Such a difficult transition from a parent’s protection to acceptation of an adult.
V v nice!
you the same poet anantha admires, i think. i can see why. not that i have read any of your poetry. enjoyed.
What a beautiful pictorial thought!
So on the way to office, I pass over this flyover. Signal hits. I look across the other side. A father and son r standing together. The father is tall and the son barely 3-4 feet – a wee kid. They are standing on the road, waiting for his school bus to come along. There is a space between the road and the railings to get on the pavement. The father first tests the waters and goes ahead and then gestures to his son. The son of course follows. I just thought how trusting kids r that nothing goes wrong ever esp when yur parent leads the way. Then it all goes to hell when they grow up
